I just received the muffler back from the ceramic coating company (Polydyn) and installed it this evening. I wanted to provide you feedback on my initial impression of the muffler.

I, as well as the ceramic coating company, were impressed with the quality of the muffler. The welds are top notch and the attention to detail is obvious from the moment the unit is taken out of the box. The fact that the muffler was very well packed shows that Active Autowerke takes pride in building quality after market products. It amazes me how many products I receive without bubble wrap or any protective wrap.

I still plan to brush the tips and shorten the left tip to make the muffler less obvious but due to me moving from my high rise apartment, I needed to clear out the extra parts and boxes I had stashed. It tends to turn people off when they come over and see a supercharger and intercooler in your living room!

Fit:
The muffler fits the car perfectly. I did not need to spent much time with aligning the tips with the rear valence. One item that is noteworthy and should be apart of your online marketing materials is that the muffler will accommodate a wider tire and provide additional clearance for cars equipped with rear coilovers that have external reservoirs attached. My AST 5200 rear shocks just nearly cleared the factory muffler but now there are several inches of clearance.

Sound:
Initial testing was performed with the car stationary. Although there was a notable increase in the sound, the exhaust note contained more bass and did not seem overwhelming to me. When I drove the car through our parking garage, there was just a slight increase in the exhaust note in the car at low engine speed. I decided to drive the car a few blocks and warm the oil up to operating temperature. I was shocked when I ran the car up to full engine speed with full boost - the exhaust sounds very sophisticated and much like a quality race exhaust.

I am very pleased with my purchase and will continue to recommend Active Autowerke to friends who enjoy tasteful modifications to their BMWs.

I have a 1997 M3 Sedan. Finally after years of dreaming about upgrading, I have finally started. No other choice but Active Autowerke to do the job. This Generation 3 exhaust along with Active's cold air intake and Chip has given me a brand new car! The exhaust screams like a banshee in heat at wide open throttle. I look forward to continued upgrades.
